2014 - Mazda6 - Transmission/Transaxle

STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FW6A-EL]

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)

2. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

1	Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)
2	Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3	Steering shift switch component (See Steering Shift Switch Component Removal Note.)

3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Steering Shift Switch Component Removal Note

1. Disconnect the steering shift switch wiring harness connector.

2. Detach the tabs of the cover in the area circled by a dashed line and open the cover.

3. Using a precision flathead screwdriver, release the tab.

4. Remove the steering shift switch component from the gap in the opening of the cover.

5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
