The radar sensor detects the distance to the vehicle ahead.
The radar sensor emits millimeter waves* from the front to the vehicle ahead, and a vehicle or obstruction is detected from the reflected waves.
Millimeter waves are emitted at an angle of 14 ° to the left and right from the center (total 28 °) and they can detect obstructions up to approx. 200 m {656 ft} from the front of the vehicle.
The radar sensor uses a specialized CAN and performs transmission with the vehicle control module (V/C-module).
If the following malfunctions are detected, the radar sensor stops detecting the forward movement of the vehicle.
Radar sensor internal circuit malfunction
Communication error between radar sensor and vehicle control module (V/C-module)
Radar sensor is outside of operation range (ignition power supply, internal temperature)
