2014 - Mazda6 - Restraints

FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNING:

CAUTION:

Front Seat Belt With Lap Pre-tensioner Seat Belt

1. Switch the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
3. Remove the fastener.

4. Remove the cover.
5. Remove the following parts:
a. Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
b. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
c. B-pillar lower trim (See B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6. Remove the adjuster anchor cover. (See Adjuster Anchor Cover Removal Note.)

7. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.
8. Disconnect the lap pre-tensioner seat belt connector.
9. Disconnect the pre-tensioner seat belt connector.
10. Remove bolt A.
11. Remove bolt B.
12. Remove the lap pre-tensioner seat belt.
13. Remove the pre-tensioner seat belt.
14. Remove the front seat belt.
15. Install in the reverse order of removal.
16. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
17. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.

Front Seat Belt Without Lap Pre-tensioner Seat Belt

1. Switch the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
3. Remove the following parts:
a. Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
b. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
c. B-pillar lower trim (See B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Remove the adjuster anchor cover. (See Adjuster Anchor Cover Removal Note.)

5. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.
6. Disconnect the pre-tensioner seat belt connector.
7. Remove the cover.
8. Remove bolt A.
9. Remove bolt B.
10. Remove the pre-tensioner seat belt.
11. Remove the front seat belt.
12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
13. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
14. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.

Adjuster Anchor Cover Removal Note

1. Press the adjuster anchor cover in the directions of arrows (1) shown in the figure and pull it in the direction of arrow (2).

2. Remove the adjuster anchor cover.
