WARNING:
Handling the front seat belt (pre-tensioner seat belt) improperly can accidentally deploy the pre-tensioner seat belt, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the front seat belt.

The side air bag sensor is attached to the lower part of the B-pillar. When working around the B-pillar, disconnect the negative battery cable avoiding excessive impact to the lower part of the B-pillar (with side air bag sensor No.1).
CAUTION:
If the retractor is disassembled, it will not operate correctly due to looseness and excessive play of the internal parts, therefore, do not disassemble the retractor.
1. Switch the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
3. Remove the fastener.
4. Remove the cover.
5. Remove the following parts:a. Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)b. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)c. B-pillar lower trim (See B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6. Remove the adjuster anchor cover. (See Adjuster Anchor Cover Removal Note.)
7. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.
8. Disconnect the lap pre-tensioner seat belt connector.
9. Disconnect the pre-tensioner seat belt connector.
10. Remove bolt A.
11. Remove bolt B.
12. Remove the lap pre-tensioner seat belt.
13. Remove the pre-tensioner seat belt.
14. Remove the front seat belt.
15. Install in the reverse order of removal.
16. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
17. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
If the air bag system warning light does not operate, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) (See FLOWCHART [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

4. Remove the adjuster anchor cover. (See Adjuster Anchor Cover Removal Note.)
5. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.
6. Disconnect the pre-tensioner seat belt connector.
7. Remove the cover.
8. Remove bolt A.
9. Remove bolt B.
10. Remove the pre-tensioner seat belt.
11. Remove the front seat belt.
12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
13. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
14. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
If the air bag system warning light does not operate, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) (See FLOWCHART [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)
The adjuster anchor cover is installed to the adjuster anchor by engaging the tab.
1. Press the adjuster anchor cover in the directions of arrows (1) shown in the figure and pull it in the direction of arrow (2).
2. Remove the adjuster anchor cover.
