ENGINE STALLS WHEN SHIFTED TO D, M OR R POSITION [FW6A-EL]


TROUBLESHOOTING ITEM	Engine stalls when shifted to D, M or R position
DESCRIPTION	Engine stalls when shifting from N or P position to D, M or R position at idle.
POSSIBLE CAUSE	Not within idle speed specification TCC piston malfunction (solenoid drive circuit, hydraulic passage blockage, poor operation) Output solenoid valve malfunction (stuck) TCC control solenoid Torque converter malfunction

Diagnostic procedure


STEP	INSPECTION	ACTION
1	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM OR TORQUE CONVERTER Perform the symptom troubleshooting “NO.5 ENGINE STALLS-AFTER START/AT IDLE” and “NO.10 LOW IDLE/STALLS DURING DECELERATION”. (See NO.5 ENGINE STALLS-AFTER START/AT IDLE [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NO.10 LOW IDLE/STALLS DURING DECELERATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
No	Replace the automatic transaxle. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FW6A-EL].)

Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
