ENGINE STALLS WHEN SHIFTED TO D, M OR R POSITION [FW6A-EL]



TROUBLESHOOTING ITEM

Engine stalls when shifted to D, M or R position

DESCRIPTION

  • Engine stalls when shifting from N or P position to D, M or R position at idle.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Not within idle speed specification

  • TCC piston malfunction (solenoid drive circuit, hydraulic passage blockage, poor operation)

    • Output solenoid valve malfunction (stuck)

      • TCC control solenoid

  • Torque converter malfunction

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM OR TORQUE CONVERTER

Yes

Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.

No

Replace the automatic transaxle.
