2014 - Mazda6 - Engine

ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5]

WARNING:

ECT Sensor No.1

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
2. Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
3. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
4. Pull out the evaporative hose No.1 from the catch tank and set it aside.

5. Pull out the ventilation hose from the air hose and set it aside.

6. Remove the clips and loosen the wiring harness.

7. Disconnect the ECT sensor No.1 connector.
8. Remove the ECT sensor No.1 using the SST.

9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
10. Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)

ECT Sensor No.2

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
2. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
3. Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
4. Disconnect the ECT sensor No.2 connector.

5. Disconnect the hoses. (See Hose Connection Note.)

6. Remove the nut from the water pipe.

7. Move the water pipe in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure to remove it. (See Water Pipe Installation Note.)

8. Remove the ECT sensor No.2 using the SST.

9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
10. Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)

Hose Connection Note

1. Align the white marks on the hose with the white marks on the pipe and connect them.

Water Pipe Installation Note

1. Assemble the water pipe so that the stud bold is inserted between section A.
