Function Explanation (DTC Detection Outline)

The PCM calculates the traveled distance and the number of days used after reset, and determines the engine oil deterioration.

The PCM determines engine oil deterioration by the traveled distance of the vehicle or if the number of days used exceeds the specified value, and stores a DTC.

Repeatability Verification Procedure

Switch the ignition ON.

Wait for 4 s.

STEP	INSPECTION	RESULTS	ACTION
1	PURPOSE: VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY Verify related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability. Is any related repair information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information. If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	PURPOSE: VERIFY IF DIAGNOSTIC RESULT IS AFFECTED BY DTC RELATED TO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER Switch the ignition off, then ON (engine off). Perform the instrument cluster DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER].) Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER].)
2		No	Go to the troubleshooting procedure to perform the procedure from Step 1.
3	PURPOSE: VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE RECORDED Perform the PCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) Are any other PENDING CODEs and/or DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable PENDING CODE or DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) Go to the troubleshooting procedure to perform the procedure from Step 1.
3		No	Go to the troubleshooting procedure to perform the procedure from Step 1.

Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure

Replace the engine oil.

Step 2—3

Verify that the primary malfunction is resolved and there are no other malfunctions.


STEP	INSPECTION	RESULTS	ACTION
1	PURPOSE: REPLACE ENGINE OIL DUE TO ENGINE OIL DETERIORATION Replace the engine oil. (See ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)	—	Go to the next step.
2	PURPOSE: VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR COMPLETION Always reconnect all disconnected connectors. Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) Implement the repeatability verification procedure. (See Repeatability Verification Procedure.) Perform the DTC Reading Procedure. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) Go to the next step.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	PURPOSE: VERIFY IF THERE IS ANY OTHER MALFUNCTION Is any other DTC or pending code stored?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
3		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
