SIDE IMPACT BAR

Purpose, Function

• The side-impact bars prevent the doors from deforming inwards during a side-impact collision.

Construction

• The front door side-impact bar lower and rear door side-impact bar lower are corrugated in shape to assure high rigidity.

  

• The side-impact bars disperse the impact during a side-impact collision.

  

• Inward penetration of the doors during a side-impact collision is prevented by directly connecting the upper and lower side-impact bars of the front doors directly to the front door hinge using bolts and positioning them such that they overlap the center pillar.

• Inward penetration of the doors during a side-impact collision is prevented by directly connecting the lower side-impact bars of the rear doors directly to the rear door hinge using bolts and positioning them such that they overlap the side sill.
