2014 - Mazda6 - Brakes

REAR PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Remove the upper panel. (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2. Loosen the adjusting nut.
3. Remove the rear parking brake cable from the front parking brake cable. (See FRONT PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Remove the floor under cover No.1. (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
5. Remove the insulator (middle) installation nuts. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
6. Set the insulator out of the way.
7. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
9. After installation, inspect the parking brake lever stroke. (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER INSPECTION.)

Rear Parking Brake Cable Removal Note

1. Remove the rear parking brake cable from the rear caliper.
2. Remove the rear parking brake cable.

Rear Parking Brake Cable Installation Note

1. Install the rear parking brake cable to the rear caliper.
2. Verify that the outer end tabs of the rear parking brake cable is securely engaged with the bracket.
